چکیده

In this paper, we present an integrated framework of on-line motion blending for locomotion generation. We first provide a novel scheme for incremental timewarping, which always guarantees that the time goes forward. Combining the idea of motion blending with that of posture rearrangement, we introduce a motion transition graph to address on-line motion blending and transition simultaneously. Guided by a stream of motion specifications, our motion synthesis scheme moves from node to node in an on-line manner while blending a motion at a node and generating a transition motion at an edge. For smooth on-line motion transition, we also attach a set of example transition motions to an edge. To represent similar postures consistently, we exploit the inter-frame coherency embedded in the input motion specification. Finally, we provide a comprehensive solution to on-line motion retargeting by integrating existing techniques. Copyright # 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

A Coherent Locomotion Engine Extrapolating Beyond Experimental Data

The generation of motion, and specifically locomotion, encompasses widely accepted techniques like blending or scattered data interpolation. To ensure a real-time simulation, each frame of the resulting animation is computed only when it has to be displayed, even if user parameters have not been modified. Thus, existing methods cannot reduce their computation cost in case of complex animation f...

A motion capture-based control-space approach for walking mannequins

Virtual mannequins need to navigate in order to interact with their environment. Their autonomy to accomplish the navigation task is ensured by locomotion controllers. Control inputs can be user-defined or automatically computed to achieve high level operations (e.g. obstacle avoidance). This paper presents a locomotion controller based on a motion capture edition technique. The inputs are the ...

Directing Intelligent Digital Actor with Real-Time Motion Planning

Automatic motion generation for digital actors under real-time user control is a challenging problem for virtual environment applications such as on-line games. Despite many advances have been made in the past few years, most systems cannot generate full humanoid motions in real time on an uneven terrain cluttered with obstacles of various heights. In this paper, we propose a real-time motion p...

Automating Expressive Locomotion Generation

This paper introduces a system for expressive locomotion generation that takes as input a set of sample locomotion clips and a motion path. Significantly, the system only requires a single sample of straight-path locomotion for each style modeled and can produce output locomotion for an arbitrary path with arbitrary motion transition points. For efficient locomotion generation, we represent eac...

Splicing of Concurrent Upper-body Motion Spaces with Locomotion

In this paper, we present a motion splicing technique for generating concurrent upper-body actions occurring simultaneously with the evolution of a lower-body locomotion sequence. Specifically, we show that a layered interpolation motion model generates upper-body poses while assigning different actions to each upper-body part. Hence, in the proposed motion splicing approach, it is possible to ...
